Built by an indie developer, used by content factories.
GenSong launched in early 2025 as a single-developer project by Muhammad Fahreja Ghifari, distributed across a web studio (gensong.ai) and a dedicated iOS app. The opening pitch was tight: get from a one-sentence prompt to a complete, royalty-free song in under a minute — and bundle the two adjacent tools most creators reach for next: an AI lyrics writer and a vocal remover.
The current flagship is the v5 Pro model, with studio-grade mixing and mastering baked into the generator. Around it sit the Smart Style Selection controls (genre, mood, scene, instrumental-only), the Explore & Imitate gallery for style-mimic prompting, and a credit-based pricing system that scales from a small free tier to Hobby ($9.90/mo, 200 credits) and Basic ($14.90/mo, 500 credits). Every track is 100% royalty-free for commercial use — explicitly positioned as a DMCA-safe alternative to licensed background music for streamers and short-form creators.
The honest trade-offs to know up front: the free tier is intentionally stingy — three to a handful of credits, and credits burn on every attempt, kept or not. Advanced in-app editing is limited (download and finish in a DAW). Complex music-theory prompts (exact chord progressions, time-signature shifts) do not always survive — text is a coarse control surface. Vocal realism is strong on v5 Pro but Suno still nudges ahead on the very hardest vocal styles.
